Dr. Keith Rasmussen – Optometrist

Meet Dr. Keith Rasmussen

Dr. Keith Rasmussen has a tremendous heart for both his patients and his family. He has spent the majority of his vision care career with Vance Thompson Vision. He is a current member of the American Optometric Association and the South Dakota Optometric Society. Dr. Rasmussen is highly regarded in his field as an author and researcher. He has participated in nearly 50 research studies and/or FDA-monitored clinical trials dealing with advanced cataract lenses, cataract surgery and post-operative treatment, astigmatism solutions, dry eye disease, presbyopia, cornea diseases, and lens implants. He is specially trained to provide diagnostic services and facilitate treatment for disorders, diseases, and injuries to the eye.

Education & Training

During his undergraduate years in Yankton, SD, Dr. Rasmussen was an award-winning, four-year letter winner on the Mount Marty College basketball team. In 1998 and 1999, he was awarded the NAIA Academic All-American recognition for basketball. In 2003, he continued on to medical school at Pacific University College of Optometry, Forest Grove, OR where he graduated with distinction. Dr. Rasmussen then fulfilled an advanced clinical fellowship in refractive, corneal, and cataract surgery at Eye Care Associates of Nevada in Sparks, NV.

Extracurricular Involvement

Dr. Rasmussen is a current member of the American Optometric Association, the South Dakota Optometric Society, and the Nevada Optometric Physicians Association.

Hobbies & Personal Interests

Dr. Rasmussen and wife Sara have four children (Henry, Ivan, George, and Olive) together. As he enjoys building relationships with his patients at Vance Thompson Vision, this family man also believes it is just as important to strengthen the bond between him and his family. He grew up on a farm in Howard, SD learning to hunt pheasants and waterfowl, fishing in Lake Thompson, and practicing shooting sports with his father. He continues these beloved activities today with his own children as often as possible.
